Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | by Kevin Maloney

Campbell paces four Bobcats in double figures in win over Co-Lin

ELLISVILLE – Ashton Campbell finished two points shy of tying a career-high with 25, Calvin Temple added 24 and Jones never trailed the final 22 minutes in a hard-fought, 92-84 win over Copiah-Lincoln.

Jones improved to 2-0 and handed Co-Lin its second straight loss.

Tied at 36-all with 2:20 left in the opening half, an offensive rebound and putback by Jabari Bowman – one of his 17 rebounds on the night – put Jones on top by a bucket and they would never relinquish the lead.

Campbell had 14 of his 25 points in the first half to help JC end the period on a 10-1 run to take a 44-37 lead at the break.

Co-Lin trailed by as many as 16 in the second half, but would cut it to 63-61 after a Kareeme Davis layup.

Kaeden Laws' three-pointer from the far corner extended the Bobcat lead back to 71-63, but once again the Wolves would claw back within four, 77-73, with 3:35 left.

Decorian Payton's and-one with 49 seconds left and dunk with 22 ticks remaining put the finishing touches on Co-Lin and a 15-point night for the freshman.

Bowman added a double-double with 10 points and career-high 17 rebounds. Caleb McGill just missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

Jones shot 39 percent on the night against 34 percent for Co-Lin.

The Bobcats were 30-of-43 from the charity stripe, while Co-Lin finished 21-of-30.

Jones will entertain Royal Ambassadors on Monday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
