No. 3 Jones claims MACJC regular season crown; will host state tournament May 8-11

No. 3 Jones College has won the MACJC regular season crown and will host the state tournament May 8-11.

SCOOBA – It took a while, but it was well worth the wait.
The 3rd-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats swept East Mississippi here Friday night to clinch the MACJC regular season championship. The second game did not end until around 10 p.m. because of a lengthy rain delay.
Jones won game one 17-2 and game two, 15-2.
The Lady Bobcats are now 41-6 overall and end conference play at 25-3.
Jones will host the state tournament May 8-11 at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field. It will be an eight-team, double-elimination tournament.
Jones will play its first game at 5 p.m. on May 8 vs. an opponent to be determined.
East Mississippi ends the year at 7-25 overall, 7-21 in the league.

Leading 5-2 entering the top of the sixth, Jones put the game away with a 12-run inning.
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) had a huge game with a home run, three singles and eight RBIs. She has 16 home runs on the season.
LP Trammell (Germantown) had two doubles and scored five runs and Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) and Raylen Blackwell (St. Patrick) each had two singles. Kayla Collins (East Central) and Rebekah DiLavore (Ocala, Florida) both doubled and Raven Blackwell (St. Patrick), Hallie Donald (Mooreville) and Carlee Nations (Enterprise-Lincoln) added singles to round out the 15-hit attack.
Donald pitched all six innings and got the win, improving to 23-1. She is second in the nation in victories. Donald allowed two runs, four hits, walked one and struck out two.
Madelyn Wilkes doubled and singled for EMCC and Megan Cummins and Mackenzie Dolan had singles.
Britney Bonney went the distance and got the loss. She gave up 17 runs (13 earned), 15 hits, walked six and struck out four.

Trammell homered, tripled and drove in four runs to spark Jones in game two.
She now has 20 home runs, which is second in the nation.
Raylen Blackwell doubled twice and singled with Collins and Raven Blackwell getting two singles each. Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia) had a double with Sikes, Jana Nations (Enterprise-Lincoln), Denton and Carlee Nations adding singles. 
Lauren Stringer (Taylorsville) went 4.0 innings and got the win to move record to 14-3. She allowed no runs, two hits, walked one and struck out three. Marley Peagler (Brandon) went an inning, giving up two runs (one earned), three hits and recording a strikeout.
Avery Bouchillon and Dolan each doubled for EMCC with Kelsey English, Wilkes and Blake Bond adding singles.
Hadlee Lewis went 4.0 innings and got the loss. She gave up 11 runs (10 earned), 10 hits and walked five. Hope Thames pitched an inning, giving up four runs, four hits, three walks and posting two strikeouts.
Jones scored three runs in the first, five in the fourth and seven in the fifth. EMCC scored twice in the fifth.
