PERKINSTON – The 18th-rated Jones College Lady Bobcats whipped Mississippi Gulf Coast 8-1 here Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats are now 18-1 on the season.
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) beat Margarita Lopareva and Megan Bankston in No. 1 doubles, 8-5.
Dixie Lei Hodges (Laurel Christian School) and
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) won No. 2 doubles by default and
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) and
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) won No. 3 doubles by default.
Ariadna Jordan defeated Bankston in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-0 and Viljoen blanked Destiny Davis in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Mireia Jordan lost to Lopareva in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-10.
Craig, Hodges and Mills won No.'s 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively, by default.
Jones ends its home season with a 2 p.m. Wednesday match vs. Holmes. The Bobcats conclude the regular season at Itawamba on Friday.
MGCCC, 1-15, goes to Southwest on Wednesday.
The MACJC/Region 23 Tournament takes place April 10-13 in Tupelo.
