ELLISVILLE – The No. 18 Jones College Lady Bobcats defeated the Hinds Lady Eagles, 8-1, here Monday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex/Bobcat Tennis Courts.
Jones improves to 15-1 on the season.
Jones swept the doubles points.
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) beat Paula Gutierrez and Danna Gonzalez, 8-2.
Dixie Lei Hodges (Laurel Christian School) and
Carley Cochran (Wayne County) beat Anna Hayden Taylor and Aryelle Grace Waters in No. 2 doubles, 8-4.
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) and
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) downed Madison Curtis and Courtney Buffington in No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Mireia Jordan beat Gutierrez in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-4 and
Ariadna Jordan whipped Gonzalez in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Viljoen downed Curtis in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Hodges defeated Taylor in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-4 and Mills beat Buffington in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 7-5.
Sarrah Der-Ballout (MSMS) lost to Waters in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 2-6.
The Lady Bobcats will go to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday and host Holmes at 2 p.m. Wednesday in its final home match of the season. The regular season ends with a match at Itawamba on Friday.
Hinds, 6-8, hosts East Central on Tuesday.
