POPLARVILLE – Top-ranked Jones College posted two impressive victories over Pearl River Community College here Monday afternoon at Lady Wildcat Stadium.
Jones broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the second inning and went on to a 10-1, five-inning win in the opener. In the nightcap, the Lady Bobcats had a 10-run second inning and a seven-run fifth and crushed PRCC, 18-2 in five innings.
Jones, 33-4 overall and 17-1 in the MACJC, visits No. 15 Itawamba for a huge 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday. ICC is currently in second place in the league at 14-2.
Pearl River, 14-16 and 4-10, goes to Holmes on Wednesday.

A two-run double by
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) highlighted the second inning for Jones.
LP Trammell (Germantown) continued her hot hitting with a home run and a triple. She scored three runs and drove in three runs. Sikes also finished with three RBIs.
Raylen Blackwell (St. Patrick) singled twice with
Raven Blackwell (St. Patrick) getting a double and two RBIs.
Kayla Collins (East Central),
Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) and
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) added singles.
Donald, 18-1, posted the victory. She went five innings, allowed one run, six hits, walked two and struck out three.
Dallas Blaker had three singles for Pearl River.
Rylee Swilley went the first 1.2 innings and got the loss.
Jones led 6-1 after two, 8-1 after three and scored twice in the fifth.

Raven Blackwell homered, doubled, singled and drove in five runs to spark Jones in game two.
Rebekah DiLavore (Ocala, Florida) homered and singled and Sikes homered and had three RBIs. Collins,
Hailey Weems (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) and
Mollie Singleterry (Wayne County) each had two singles. Trammell and Jesse Smith (Seminary) added singles. Weems and Singleterry each drove in two runs.
Lauren Stringer (Taylorsville) went the distance and got the win. She allowed two runs (one earned), one hit, walked none and struck out eight as she improved to 11-1.
Jenna Comeaux homered for PRCC's only hit. It came with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
Starter Gracie Barnett – the first of five PRCC pitchers – went one inning and took the loss.
