Top-rated Lady Bobcats down MDCC twice

ELLISVILLE – The No. 1 Jones College Lady Bobcats made quick work of Mississippi Delta Community College here Friday afternoon at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
Jones won a pair of five-inning games over the Trojans, posting 15-4 and 14-0 decisions.
Jones sits atop the MACJC standings at 15-1 and owns a 31-4 overall record.
The Lady Bobcats go to Pearl River for a 4 p.m. Monday doubleheader.
MDCC, 5-26 and 2-12, hosts East Mississippi on Monday.

Jones put the game away quickly with eight runs in the first inning and seven runs in the second inning.
The Lady Bobcats sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning. A three-run home run from Hallie Donald (Mooreville) made it 6-0 and a two-run shot from LP Trammell (Germantown) capped the inning.
Jones sent 12 batters to the plate in the second inning with Trammell's three-run blast ending the scoring. She now has a team-leading 15 home runs on the season.
MDCC scored a run in the second and added three more runs in the fifth.
Trammell had two home runs and five RBIs with Donald getting a home run, single and five RBIs. Raven Blackwell (St. Patrick) and Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) each doubled and singled with Kayla Collins (East Central) getting a double. McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas), Rebekah DiLavore (Ocala, Florida), Raylen Blackwell (St. Patrick) and Mollie Singleterry (Wayne County) added singles.
Donald, 17-1, got the win. She pitched the first three innings, allowed an unearned run, two hits, walked none and struck out four. Kaeleigh Crutchfield (Clinton Christian) tossed two innings, allowed three runs (one earned), five hits, walked none and struck out one.
Kristen Deason pitched an inning and got the loss, allowing 10 runs (seven earned), seven hits, two walks and a strikeout. Kaeli Lognion pitched three innings, giving up five runs, six hits and a walk.
Jessica Irion had two singles for MDCC with Cara McCarty, Kassie Comeaux, Baley McCurdy, Sara Lawrence and Jazmine Kincaid adding singles.

Sikes got Jones rolling in the first inning with a solo home run, her 12th of the season.
The Lady Bobcats took command with seven-run, second inning, highlighted by a two-run home run by Collins.
DiLavore's RBI single in the third made it 9-0 and Jones closed the game with five runs in the fourth.
Collins homered and singled with DiLavore and Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia) getting two singles each. Sikes homered, Trammell doubled and Jesse Smith (Seminary), Chasity Jordan (Perry Central), Raven Blackwell, Hailey Weems (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), Raylen Blackwell and Carlee Nations (Enterprise-Lincoln) adding singles. 
Starter Lauren Stringer (Taylorsville) posted the win, improving to 10-1. She went three innings, allowed no runs, two hits, walked none and struck out five. Marley Peagler (Brandon) went the final two innings, allowed no runs, three hits, walked none and struck out one. 
McCarty had three singles for MDCC with Beth Spiers and Comeaux adding singles.
Lognion went 1.2 innings, giving up eight runs (four earned), seven hits and a walk. She took the loss. Erica Keller pitched 1.1 innings and Deason pitched an inning.
