ELLISVILLE – The 17th-rated Jones College Lady Bobcats rolled to another win here Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex/Bobcat Tennis Courts.
The Lady Bobcats improved to 6-1 with a 7-2 victory over ECCC.
Jones got off to a good start by winning two doubles points.
In No. 1 doubles,
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) beat Ali Grace Walker and Josie Hurst, 8-5. In No. 3 doubles,
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) and
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) defeated Bethany Wellerman and Alex Tindall, 8-4. In No. 2 doubles,
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) and
Dixie Lei Hodges (Laurel Christian School) lost to Gabriela Gomez and Kayla Baucum, 8-9 (2-7).
Mireia Jordan defeated Gomez in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and
Ariadna Jordan whipped Walker in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Craig rallied past Tindall in No. 3 singles, 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 and Viljoen downed Hurst in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Hodges defeated Baucum in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 7-5. Mills fell to Wellerman in No. 5 singles, 3-6, 3-6.
Jones travels to Itawamba for a 2 p.m. Friday match and will meet Blue Mountain College at 10 a.m. Saturday in New Albany.
East Centra, 6-5, hosts Copiah-Lincoln on Saturday.
