ELLISVILLE – The 18
th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats beat No.19 Meridian, 7-2, here Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex/Bobcat Tennis Courts.
The Lady Bobcats are now 14-1 on the season.
Jones won two of the doubles' points.
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) beat Zoe Freke and Autumn Welborn in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) and
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) beat Amber Wascomb and Sophia Calderon in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Dixie Lei Hodges (Laurel Christian School) and
Carley Cochran (Wayne County) lost to Kenedy Rodriguez and Rachel VanHorn in No. 2 doubles, 1-8.
Mireia Jordan beat Rodriguez in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and
Ariadna Jordan defeated Freke in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Viljoen blanked Welborn in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Hodges downed Wascomb in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Mills outlasted Calderon in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 1-6, 10-6. Sarah Der-Ballout lost to VanHorn in No. 4 singles, 0-6, 1-6.
Jones will host Hinds in a 1 p.m. match on Monday.
Meridian, 7-4, goes to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday.
