ELLISVILLE – The 18th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats eased to a 9-0 win over Southwest here Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Sports
Complex/Bobcat Tennis Courts.
In No. 1 doubles,
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) blanked Ali Smith and Kimberly San, 8-0.
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) and
Dixie Lei Hodges (Laurel Christian School) defeated Megan White and Sarah Robinson in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) and
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
The Lady Bobcats did not lose a set in singles.
Mireia Jordan shut out Smith in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Ariadna Jordan blanked San in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Viljoen whipped Robinson in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Mills downed White in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Sarah Der-Ballout (MSMS) and
Carley Cochran (Wayne County) won No.'s 5 and 6 singles, respectively, by default.
Jones improves to 10-1, while Southwest is 0-6 on the season.
Jones will return home on Saturday for two matches. The Bobcats host Copiah-Lincoln at 10:30 a.m. and Wallace St. at 2:30 p.m. The Bobcats also be at home for a 2 p.m. match on Monday vs. Holmes.
Southwest hosts Holmes on Friday.
