ELLISVILLE – The top-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats posted a pair of 10-1, run-rule wins over Southern Union (Alabama) here Friday evening at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
The doubleheader was added to the schedule earlier in the day.
Jones, 6-2, will now play No. 12 Lansing (Michigan) in a 5/7 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Those games were originally scheduled for Sunday.
The Lady Bobcats begin MACJC play at Holmes on Wednesday.
Southern Union, 7-12, hosts Wabash Valley (Illinois) on Tuesday.

The Lady Bobcats belted three home runs in the opener.
Kayla Collins (East Central) and
Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) homered and
Rebekah DiLavore's (Ocala, Florida) grand slam ended the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Collins added a single and had two RBIs.
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) had two singles with
Raven Blackwell (St. Patrick) and
Mollie Singleterry (Wayne County) adding singles.
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) got the win to improve to 4-0. She went all five innings, allowing an unearned run, five hits, no walks and recording six strikeouts.
Ansley Ogletree, Amber Dempsey, Haley Lyner, Izzy Rohr and Haley Atchison singled for the Lady Bison.
Martina Maloch went the first four innings and got the loss. She allowed six runs, six hits, walked five and struck out one. Haley Horton and Maci Aikens also pitched.
Jones led 2-0 after an inning, 4-0 after three and ended the game with six runs in the fifth.

Singleterry doubled twice and DiLavore had a double and a single for Jones.

LP Trammell (Germantown) adding singles.
Starter
Marley Peagler (Brandon) went four innings and got the win to improve to 1-1. She allowed one run, three hits, walked one and struck out six.
Lauren Stringer (Taylorsville) pitched the final inning and got two strikeouts, while giving up a hit.
Ogletree, Kathryne Shoop, Lyner and Meagan Coltrane singled for the Lady Bison.
Savannah Sands and Tori Brown pitched for Southern Union.
Southern Union led 1-0 after one, Jones led 3-1 after two, 7-1 after three and 10-1 after four.
