GULF SHORES, Alabama – Top-ranked Jones College split a pair of games here Saturday in the Sun Chief Classic.
After dropping a 5-2 decision to Motlow State (Tennessee), the Lady Bobcats bounced back to beat No. 6 Illinois Central, 8-2.
On Friday, Jones beat Walters State (Tennessee) 8-2 and dropped an 8-6, 8-inning decision to NJCAA Division I No. 13 Wallace State (Alabama).
The Lady Bobcats, 2-2, will play at home at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field on Feb. 22. Jones meets Coastal Alabama-South at 2 p.m., followed by Coastal Alabama-South vs. Southwest at 4 p.m. Jones hosts Southwest at 6 p.m.

A three-run home run by
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning and propelled Jones to the win.
Sikes also doubled and singled and ended the game with four RBIs.
Kayla Collins (East Central) homered, singled and had two RBIs.
Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia) tripled and singled and
Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) doubled and singled.
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) tripled and
Raven Blackwell (St. Patrick) added a single.
Donald was superb in the circle as she improved to 2-0. She allowed one earned run, seven hits, walked one and struck out 10.
Sam Garcia and Sam McKee each had two singles for ICC. Abbi Taylor, Megan Adams and Alexis West added singles.
Adams went 1.2 innings in relief and took the loss. She gave up five runs, five hits, walked one and struck out one. Katie David tossed 2.1 innings, allowed no runs and two hits. Taylor pitched 2.0 innings, allowed three runs, four hits and walked one.
ICC led 2-0 after an inning. Jones got a run in the fourth, scored four in the fifth and three in the seventh.
Motlow State (Tennessee) 5, Lady Bobcats 2
Motlow State took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third and held on for the win.
Collins, Sikes and
Mollie Singleterry (Wayne County) each doubled and singled and Hailey Hanson (Jackson Prep) added a single.
Starter
Marley Peagler (Brandon) went 6.2 innings and got the loss. She allowed three runs, eight hits and struck out one.
Kaeleigh Crutchfield (Clinton Christian) pitched .1 inning and gave up a hit.
Kylie Thackerson and Lauren Tomberlin each doubled and singled for Motlow State. Haley Hinshaw doubled with Sam King, Annsley Kalamon, Autumn Davis and Jami Stinson adding singles.
Jennifer Corbin went 4.0 innings and got the win, allowing two runs, seven hits, one walk and notching a strikeout. Davis went 3.0 innings and did not allow a hit to get a save.
The Bucks led 1-0 after two innings and Jones made it 1-1 after three. Motlow State led 3-2 after four and two runs in the seventh.
