ELLISVILLE – The 15th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats improved to 12-3 with a 7-2 victory over East Central here Thursday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
JCJC swept the doubles points.
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) defeated Gabriela Gomez and Tatiana Quinonez, 8-3, in No.1 doubles.
Beth Owen (Stone) and
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) won No. 2 doubles over Alex Tindall and Caylee Grace Yarborough, 8-2.
August Parker (Northeast Jones) and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) edged Julia Johnston and Sara Mazzella in No. 3 doubles, 9-7.
Mireia Jordan blanked Gomez in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Ariadna Jordan beat Quinonez in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Owen whipped Tindall in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. McLaurin defeated Yarborough in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Bethany Wellerman beat Parker in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 7-5. Johnston defeated Cran in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 3-6, (10-4). In an extra match,
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) beat Madison Crapps, 8-2.
The Lady Bobcats will host Hinds at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
East Central, 5-7, goes to Marion Military Institute (Alabama) on Saturday.
