SENATOBIA – Hallie Donald (Mooreville) threw a complete-game shutout and had three RBIs to lead No. 2 Jones County to a 4-0 win over Northwest in game two of a doubleheader here Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats are now 17-1 overall and 4-0 in the MACJC. JCJC will play No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast in a 2 p.m. Wednesday doubleheader at Biloxi High School.
Northwest, 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference, hosts Itawamba on Tuesday.
Donald went the distance, allowed no runs, four hits, walked one and struck out four as she upped her record to 6-0.
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) led off the game with a single, stole second and scored on Donald's single.
JCJC took a 3-0 lead in the third when Loftin singled, Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) doubled and Donald delivered a two-run single.
Northwest loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the third, but Jones got a double play to end the threat.
The Lady Bobcats scored their final run in the fourth inning.
Bailey Gilbert (Sylva-Bay Academy) led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Angel Guyton (Smithville). Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia) singled and Loftin followed with an RBI single.
Loftin had three singles and Donald singled twice. Murray doubled with Venable and McCleskey adding singles.
Katie Brownlee, 2-2, went 3.1 innings as the starter and got the loss. She allowed four runs, five hits, walked two and struck out one. Sarah Johnson pitched 3.2 innings, allowed no runs, three hits and struck out one.
Shelby Wilson, Sarah Taylor, Alexis McShan and Marlee Ray singled for Northwest.
