Lady Bobcat tennis team beats ECCC, 7-2

DECATUR – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats improved to 4-1 with a 7-2 victory over Central here Saturday at the East Central Tennis Complex.
JCJC swept the doubles' matches.
Ariadna Jordan and Mireia Jordan (Spain) beat Gabriela Gomez and Tatiana Quinonez in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. In No. 2 doubles, Beth Owen (Stone) and Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) defeated Alexis Tindall and Caylee Grace Yarborough, 8-2, and in No. 3 doubles August Parker (Northeast Jones) and Brooke Cran (Wayne County) edged Julia Johnston and Sara Mazzella, 9-7.
In No. 1 singles, Mireia Jordan beat Gomez, 6-1, 6-0. Ariadna Jordan blanked Quinonez in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Owen whipped Tindall in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and McLaurin defeated Yarborough in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
East Central won in No.'s 5 and 6 singles with Bethany Wellerman defeating Parker, 6-3, 7-6 and Johnston beating Cran, 6-1, 6-2.
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) won an extra match over Madison Crapps, 8-4.
JCJC goes to Mississippi Gulf Coast at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. JCJC travels to Itawamba for a 2 p.m. match on Thursday and will meet Blue Mountain College at 10 a.m. on Friday in New Albany.
ECCC, 3-2, hosts Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday.
March 2 scrimmage
Lady Statesmen 6, Lady Bobcats 3

In a Friday scrimmage at the Bobcat Tennis Courts, Delta State beat Jones, 6-3.
Delta State won two of the doubles' matches.
JCJC's win came in No. 1 doubles with Ariadna Jordan and Mireia Jordan defeating Ione' Deroode and Jemina Linn Sorman, 9-7. In No. 2 doubles, Charlotte Le Flohic and Nathalia Sato beat Owen and McLaurin, 8-1, and in No. 3 doubles, Kyra Holway and Sarah Nash beat Parker and Cran, 8-5.
In No. 1 singles, Mireia Jordan defeated Sorman, 6-3, 6-2. Cran beat Nash in No. 6 singles, 8-5.
Le Flohic defeated Ariadna Jordan in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Sato beat Owen in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Deroode defeated McLaurin in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and Holway downed Parker in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Craig beat Madison Wages in an extra match, 8-3.
