MOORHEAD – Top-rated Jones County drilled Mississippi Delta 16-0 in five innings in game two of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon.
JCJC won the opener, 24-1
JCJC, winners of 23 straight, is now 31-1 overall and 18-0 in the MACJC.
Hallie Donald (Mooreville), who went 5-for-5 in game one, shined in the circle in game two.
She pitched all five innings, giving up no runs and two hits. She recorded five strikeouts and walked none, as she improved to 9-0.
Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) tripled, doubled twice and had five RBIs, giving her 10 RBIs on the day.
Angel Guyton (Smithville) doubled and singled twice.
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) homered and singled with
Simone McKinney (Harrison Central) getting two singles. Donald also homered,
Breanna Hasty (Germantown) had a double with
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall),
Meg Martin (Leake Academy) and
Bailey Gilbert (Sylva-Bay Academy) getting singles.
McKinney scored three runs.
The Lady Bobcats scored five runs each in the second and third innings and six in the fourth.
The Lady Bobcats will host Pearl River in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on April 4.
MDCC drops to 2-20 overall and 2-12 in the conference. The Lady Trojans travel to East Mississippi on April 4.
