ELLISVILLE –
Emily Robinson (Lafayette) slugged two home runs in the first inning as No.1 Jones County rolled to a 12-0, five-inning win over Holmes in game two of a doubleheader here Monday vs. Holmes.
JCJC took the opener, 5-0.
It was over quickly in game two, as JCJC sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) led off with an infield single,
Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) walked and
Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) followed with an RBI single.
Robinson then drilled a three-run home run over the centerfield wall to make it 4-0.
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) then reached on an error and
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) followed with a double.
Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia) reached on an error, allowing Donald to score. Loftin walked to load the bases and Murray walked to force in a run. Venable then delivered a two-run single.
Robinson then smashed her second, three-run home run of the inning to center to give the Lady Bobcats an 11-0 lead.
Murray led off the bottom of the third with a home run to end the scoring.
Starter
Madison Burge (Harrison Central) went the first three innings and got the win to improve her record to 6-0. She allowed no runs, two hits, walked one and struck out one. Donald pitched the final two innings, allowed no run, no hits and struck out one.
Robinson homered twice and had six RBIs. Venable had two singles and three RBIs. Murray homered, Sikes doubled and Loftin and Donald added singles.
The Lady Bobcats are now 23-1 overall, 10-0 in the MACJC. JCJC travels to Copiah-Lincoln for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday.
Holmes falls to 10-8, 3-5. The Lady Bulldogs host East Mississippi Wednesday.
