ELLISVILLE – Top-rated Jones County scored eight runs in the first inning and cruised past Coahoma 16-0 in five innings in game two here Friday evening at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
Jones won game one, 8-0.
The Lady Bobcats are now 21-1 overall, 8-0 in the MACJC. Coahoma falls to 0-10 and 0-8.
The Lady Bobcats return home Sunday to play Lansing Community College (Michigan) at noon and No. 2 Des Moines Area Community College (Iowa) at 6 p.m. Both games will air on
www.jcjc.tv.
Coahoma travels to East Central on March 16.
JCJC sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning.
Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) doubled,
Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) was hit by a pitch and
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) singled to load the bases. A fielder's choice by
Nancy Williams (Southeast Lauderdale) scored Murray.
Meg Martin (Leake Academy) reached on an error, allowing Venable to score.
Angel Guyton (Smithville) followed with a two-run double to give Jones a 4-0 lead.
Bailey Gilbert (Sylva-Bay Academy) delivered an RBI double and
Simone McKinney (Harrison Central) drove in a run with a bunt single.
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) followed with a two-run home run.
In the second, Donald doubled, went to third on a ground out by Williams and scored on a Martin ground out to make it 9-0.
Gilbert led off the third with a home run. McKinney doubled and
Natilyn Hasty (Germantown) singled. McKinney would score on a passed ball and Hasty scored when McCleskey reached on an error.
Breanna Hasty (Germantown) singled and Donald's single drove in a run to make it 13-0.
Williams hit a sacrifice fly to right to score a run and Gilbert would come through again with a two-run double.
Gilbert homered, doubled twice and drove in four runs. Donald and McKinney each doubled and singled twice. Loftin homered with Guyton and Murray adding doubles.
Natilyn Hasty,
Breanna Hasty and McCleskey added singles.
Starter
Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) was credited with the win, improving to 7-1. She went 1.1 innings, allowed no hits and struck out one.
Madison Burge (Harrison Central) went 1.2 innings, allowed no hits and struck out two. Sikes pitched the final two innings, struck out two and gave up two hits.
Kelsia Rogers and Hubbard both singled for Coahoma.
Hubbard took the loss. She went four innings, allowed 16 runs (six earned), 15 hits, walked one and struck out one.
