BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – Second-ranked Jones County Junior College blanked Baton Rouge Community College 10-0 in five innings in game two of a doubleheader here Monday evening at Oak Villa Park.
JCJC won the opener, 6-1.
The Lady Bobcats, 2-0, will host No. 1 LSU-Eunice in a 3 p.m. Thursday doubleheader at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field. The games will air on
www.jcjc.tv.
Sophomore pitchers
Madison Burge (Harrison Central) and
Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) dominated game two.
Burge started, went two innings, allowed one hit, walked one and was credited with the win. Perque then struck out nine of the 10 batters she faced in three innings and did not allow a hit.
At the plate, the Lady Bobcats got home runs from
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) and freshman
Angel Guyton (Smithville).
Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) doubled and singled with
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) and
Emily Robinson (Lafayette) adding doubles.
Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia),
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) and freshman
Meg Martin (Leake Academy) added singles.
Sarah Tate singled for BRCC's only hit.
Sydnee McCall took the loss.
The Lady Bobcats scored four runs in the second and three runs each in the third and fourth innings.
BRCC, 1-3, will play in the Pearl River Tournament this weekend.
