Perque's one-hitter helps No. 2 JCJC beat No. 6 Lady Cougars

ELLSVILLE – Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) tossed a one-hitter to help No. 2 Jones County to a 7-0 victory over No. 6 Illinois Central in game one here Saturday at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
Perque tossed a five-inning no-hitter in her previous start and followed that up with another impressive performance.
She allowed only a one-out single to Katie David in the fifth inning. She walked four, hit one and struck out six as she improved to 3-1.
The Lady Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the second when Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia) led off with a bunt single and Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) followed with an RBI double. Taylor Murray's (Parklane Academy) scored Loftin.
It stayed that way until the sixth when JCJC scored five runs on only one hit.
Donald walked, McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) was hit by a pitch and Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) walked to load the bases. Bailey Gilbert (Sylva-Bay Academy) walked to score pinchrunner Simone McKinney (Harrison Central).
With one out, pinch hitter Angel Guyton (Smithville) delivered a two-run double to make it 5-0.
With two outs, Murray walked to load the bases again. Emily Robinson (Lafayette) was hit by a pitch to force a run home and Guyton scored on a throwing error.
Loftin doubled twice for Jones, while Guyton doubled. Murray, Gilbert and McCleskey added singles.
Paige Lane went the first five innings-plus and took the loss. She allowed six runs, five hits and walked six. Brittney Spiesz pitched an inning, allowed one run, one hit, walked two and struck out three.
 JCJC is now 12-1, while Illinois Central is 1-2.
