ELLISVILLE –
Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs to help No. 2 Jones County to a 10-2, five-inning victory over Coastal Alabama-East here Friday night at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field.
It was JCJC's only game of the day in the Gwen Magee Invitational. The Lady Bobcats are now 11-1.
The event will conclude on Saturday with Jones facing No. 6 Illinois Central in an 11 a.m. doubleheader. Both games will air on
www.jcjc.tv.
Coastal Alabama-East, 10-12, goes to Northwest Florida on Tuesday. The Sun Chiefs beat Northwest 1-0 and Illinois Central 7-6 in earlier games Friday. Illinois Central also beat Northwest, 5-1.

Jones jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) led off with a single, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error.
Murray and
Hallie Donald (Mooreville) walked and
McKennah Sikes (Van Buren, Arkansas) singled to load the bases.
Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) followed with a two-run double to right.
Julia Rodemoyer homered for the Sun Chiefs in the top of the second to make it 3-1.
Jones answered in the bottom of the inning when Loftin walked, stole second and scored on a single by Murray.
JCJC increased the lead to 8-1 in the fourth.
Faith Denton (Northwest Rankin) led off with a walk and was replaced by pinchrunner
Gracie McCleskey (Caledonia).
Nancy Williams (Southeast Lauderdale) drew a walk and
Sarah Brock (North Pike) followed with an RBI single.
Loftin's bunt single scored Williams and Murray's single loaded the bases.
Emily Robinson (Lafayette) then delivered a two-run single.
The Sun Chiefs made it 8-2 in the top of the fifth when Lainee Ely walked, Kristin Quina singled and Cassidy Huff had an RBI single.
The Lady Bobcats ended the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Williams led off with a walk and was replaced by pinchrunner
Simone McKinney (Harrison Central). Brock reached on a fielder's choice and
Angel Guyton (Smithville) drew a walk.
Murray then hit a two-run double.
Madison Burge (Harrison Central) went the distance and got the win. She allowed two runs, five hits, walked two and struck out one as she improved to 4-0.
Lofton had two singles, while Venable doubled. Robinson, Donald, Sikes and Brock added singles. Venable and Robinson both drove in two runs.
Rodemoyer went the first three innings and took the loss. She allowed six runs, four hits, walked six and struck out one. Brooklin Thompson pitched .1 of an inning, allowed two runs, five hits and walked one. Jamee Bye pitched an inning, allowed two runs, one hit and walked two.
Rodemoyer homered for the Sun Chiefs with Huff, Cryslin Graham, Lindsie Sanders and Quina adding singles.
