RAYMOND – The No. 22 Jones County Junior College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 with a 7-2 victory over No. 25 Hinds Community College here Monday afternoon.
JCJC won five of the six singles' matches.
Mireia Jordan (Spain) rallied to beat Stefy Varon-Diaz, 1-6, 6-1, 10-1 in No. 1 singles.
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) did the same in No. 2 singles with a 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 win. In No. 3 singles,
Beth Owen (Stone) whipped Jordan Warren, 6-0, 6-1. In No. 4 singles,
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) downed Olivia White, 6-0, 6-2. In No. 5 singles,
August Parker (Northeast Jones) defeated Anna Hayden-Taylor, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (1). In No. 6 singles,
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) fell to Madison Curtis, 6-0, 6-3. In an extra match,
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) beat Kayla Pendleton, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8).
In No. 2 doubles, Owen and McLaurin beat Warren and Hayden-Taylor, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles, Parker and Cran defeated Curtis and Brooke Myers, 8-5.
Hinds' Varon-Diaz and Scarlet Guiterrez edged the Jordan sisters in No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
The Lady Bobcats travel to Itawamba for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday and will play its next home match on Feb. 27 against Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Hinds hosts Meridian on Thursday.
