GOODMAN – The No. 22 Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats opened the 2018 season with a 9-0 decision over Holmes Community College here Tuesday afternoon.
In No. 1 singles,
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) defeated Alexia Kahmarr, 6-0, 6-2.
August Parker (Northeast Jones) won No. 2 singles over Harrah Thomas, 6-3, 6-0.
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) won No. 3 singles over Avery Terrell, 6-3, 6-3, and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) took No. 4 singles over Lucy Oakes, 6-0, 6-2. JCJC won No.'s 5 and 6 singles by forfeit.
In No. 1 doubles,
Beth Owen (Stone) and McLaurin beat Kahmarr and Terrell, 8-3. Parker and Cran won No. 2 doubles over Oakes and Thomas, 8-1. JCJC won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
Jones will host Copiah-Lincoln at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Holmes goes to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday.
