ELLISVILLE – Jones Colleget ook the lead for good midway through the first half and went on to a 94-73 decision over Coastal Alabama-North here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The Bobcats, 7-1, will next play on Dec. 28 at undefeated and No. 12 Tallahassee Community College (Florida) in the first day of the
Tallahassee DemocratTournament.
Jones trailed for the most of the first part of the first half vs. the Eagles.
With the game tied at 19-19, the Bobcats took the lead for good when
Shardarrion Allen (Raymond) converted a 3-point play to make it 22-19 with 9:19 showing. A basket by
Sayveon Bumpers (Quitman) and a slam by
Galen Alexander (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) ended a 7-0 spurt and put Jones up 26-19 with 7:18 left in the first half.
Jones extended the lead to 40-26 with 2:49 showing when
Kenneth Rogers (Starkville) made one of his five 3-pointers for the game.
The Bobcats led 46-36 at halftime and the Eagles would not get within single digits in the second half.
Another 3-pointer by Rogers gave Jones a 69-51 lead with 11:20 to play. The Bobcats took their longest lead of the game when Rogers converted a 4-point play with 4:27 left to make it 87-63.
Alexander, a transfer from LSU, led the Bobcats with 24 points. Rogers added 17,
Winceton Edwards (Oak Grove) had 11 and Allen finished with 10.
Lorenzo Anderson had 30 points for the Eagles, 4-7. Javon Grimsley added 18.
Coastal Alabama-North hosts South Georgia Technical College on Saturday.
