ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats were relentless in a 7-1 victory over Itawamba here Wednesday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
JCJC is now 4-0-1 on the season.
Anna Kate Howard (South Jones) started the scoring on a header off a corner kick by
Aimee Durn (Watford, England) at 5:34. Durn then assisted
Judith Verdaguer (Barcelona, Spain) at 9:19 to make it 2-0.
Zakiah Almatrood's (Biloxi) long goal at 33:48 made it 3-0 and Almatrood scored off a Verdaguer assist at 34:36 to give JCJC a 4-0 lead going into halftime.
Angel Ryals (Brandon) drilled a shot in from around 25 yards out via a Durn assist to give Jones a 5-0 lead at 50:10. Almatrood assisted Durn at 56:10 to make it 6-0. Howard scored off a corner kick assist by Verdageur to make it 7-0 at 72:30.
Deanna Christie scored ICC's goal at 82:00.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) played the first half in goal for Jones and
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) played the second half.
The Lady Bobcats will travel to Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to face unbeaten Northeast College (Texas) in a 3 p.m. match on Saturday.
Itawamba is now 4-4 and visits Southwest Tennessee on Saturday.
