SENATOBIA – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats defeated Northwest 7-2 here Friday afternoon.
JCJC took two of the doubles' points.
Beth Owen (Stone) and
Anastasiia Bukhanova (Russia) beat Harlie Ray and Emily Blackmarr in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles,
April Rudolph (Northeast Jones) and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) beat Emily Standard and Emily Newman, 8-1.
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) and
August Parker (Northeast Jones) were edged 8-7 in No. 2 doubles by Piper Johnson and Kim Crider.
Owen whipped Johnson in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Bukhanova beat Ray in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Rudolph downed Blackmarr in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2, Mills defeated Standard in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Parker beat Newman in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Crider beat Cran in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
The Lady Bobcats are now 8-4, while Northwest falls to 2-5.
Jones plays its final regular season home match at 2 p.m. on Monday vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast and they end regular season play at East Central on Wednesday.
Northwest goes to Hinds on Tuesday.
The MACJC/Region 23 Tournament is slated for April 19-22 at MGCCC.
