No. 2 Lady Bobcats crush Hinds, 25-2

ELLISVILLE – Second-ranked Jones County Junior College had no trouble with Hinds Community College in game one here Wednesday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The Lady Bobcats batted around twice in the first inning, sent 18 batters to the plate and scored 12 runs en route to a 25-2, five-inning decision.
Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) had a three-run home run in the inning, while Autumn Frost (East Webster) had a triple and a double and Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) and Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) each had two singles in the first inning.
Jones sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs in the second inning to take a 16-0 lead.
Leading 16-2 entering the bottom of the fourth, JCJC sent 15 batters to the plate and scored nine more runs. Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) had a three-run home run in the inning.
Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) pitched five innings, allowed two runs, six hits, walked one and struck out two as she improved to 15-0.
Murray homered, doubled, singled twice and drove in five runs. McCrary had four singles and scored four runs. Frost tripled, doubled and had five RBIs, while Loftin had three singles. Robinson had two singles and three RBI, while Byrd homered and ended up with five RBIs. Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale), Natalie Hogue (Harrison Central), Brittany Hagwood (Enterprise) and Sarah Brock (North Pike) added singles.
Madison Leggett homered for Hinds, while Brooke Patterson, Kilah Dearman, Di'Mon Brown, Polly Kincaid and Jessica Sanford added singles.
Cecilia Akin, the first of five HCC pitchers, took the loss.
