GOODMAN – The top-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats rolled to a 15-0, five-inning victory over Holmes Community College in game one of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon.
Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) hit a two-run home run in the first inning,
Autumn Frost (East Webster) belted a grand slam in the second and
Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale) smashed a two-run home run in the third as the Lady Bobcats dominated from the start.
JCJC led 3-0 after one inning, 10-0 after two and 15-0 after three.
Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) posted the win. She went three innings, allowed no runs, one hit, walked none, struck out two and remained unbeaten at 13-0.
Amanda Holliday (Watson, Louisiana) pitched the final two innings, allowed no runs, two hits, walked none and struck out three.
Frost homered, singled twice and drove in five runs, while
Kelsha Loftin tripled, doubled, singled and drove in two runs.
Emily Robinson (Lafayette),
Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) and
Brittany Hagwood (Enterprise) had two singles each. Byrd homered and had four RBIs, while Baty homered and had two RBIs.
Sarah Brock (North Pike) and
Natalie Hogue (Harrison Central) added singles.
Dykes, Alridge and K Jones each had singles for Holmes.
Starting pitcher Karley Poindexter pitched two innings and took the loss. She allowed 10 runs (nine earned), eight hits, walked one and struck out one. Tara Grantham pitched the final three innings, allowed five runs, eight hits and struck out one.
