ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College women's tennis team blanked Itawamba Community College 9-0 here Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Lady Bobcats were impressive as they improved to 6-3.
In No. 1 doubles,
Beth Owen (Stone) and
Anastasiia Bukhanova (Russia) beat Jordan Roberts and Bailey Gillentine, 8-3.
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) and
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) whipped Karlin Garrett and Lizbeth Jiminez in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
April Rudolph (Northeast Jones) and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) blanked Georgia Campbell and Charity Tedford in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Owen beat Roberts in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 2 singles, Bukhanova blanked Gillentine, 6-0, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, Rudolph defeated Garrett, 6-0, 6-2. In No. 4 singles, McLaurin defeated Campbell, 6-1, 6-2. In No. 5 singles, Mills downed Jiminez, 6-0, 6-1, and in No. 6 singles,
August Parker (Northeast Jones) beat Emily Buster, 6-0, 6-2.
The Lady Bobcats host Meridian at 2 p.m. on Monday.
Itawamba, 3-8, travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Saturday.
