ELLISVILLE – Top-ranked Jones County Junior College blanked Mississippi Delta Community College 17-0 in five innings in game two of a doublheader here Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
JCJC took the opener, 12-1 in five innings.
Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) had two home runs and nine RBIs in game two. She ended the day with a 5-for-6 performance and 12 RBIs in the doubleheader.
JCJC is now 33-1 overall and 17-1 in the MACJC. The Lady Bobcats host Pearl River in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday vs. Pearl River. Both games will air on

MDCC is 0-18 overall and 0-14 in league play. The Trojans will entertain Itawamba on Wednesday.
JCJC scored in the first inning in game two when
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) was hit by a pitch, stole second and Byrd singled her home.
The Lady Bobcats took a 5-0 lead in the second.
Natalie Hogue (Harrison Central),
Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) and
Jessie Bumpous (Southaven) singled to load the bases.
Brittany Hagwood (Enterprise) followed with a two-run single, Loftin got an RBI double and Byrd delivered an RBI single.
Jones made it 10-0 in the third.
Venable reached on an infield single and Bumpous singled. With two outs,
Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) and Loftin got RBI singles. Byrd then ripped a three-run home run.
The Lady Bobcats would send 13 batters to the plate and score seven runs in the fourth.
Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale) singled, Hogue reached on a fielder's choice and Venable hit a two-run home run.
Bumpous and Hagwood drew walks, McCrary reached on a fielder's choice and Loftin walked to load the bases. Byrd then launched a grand slam.
Autumn Frost (East Webster) then drew a walk and was replaced by
Sarah Brock (North Pike), who would later score on a wild pitch.
Amanda Holliday (Watson, Louisiana) went the first 4 2/3 innings and got the win as she upped her record to 9-0. She allowed two hits and struck out five.
Karli Perque (Westwego, Louisiana) got the final out by a strikeout.
Byrd homered twice, singled twice and had nine RBIs. Venable homered and singled twice, while Loftin doubled and singled. McCrary, Frost, Baty, Hogue, Bumpous and Hagwood added singles.
Chelsea Robinson and Crystal Lofton singled for MDCC.
Tiffany Phillips was the starter and loser. She pitched three innings, allowed 10 runs (five earned) and 12 hits. Mollie Simpson pitched an inning, allowed seven runs (six earned), three hits and walked five.
