ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats played their home opener here Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Lady Bobcats took care of businees with a 9-0 victory over Northeast Mississippi.
The Lady Bobcats lost only one game in singles.
In No. 1 singles, JCJC's
Beth Owen (Stone) defeated Meegan Trexler, 6-0, 6-0, and
Anastasiia Bukhanova (Nakhokda, Russia) beat Abbey Hollowel, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles,
April Rudolph (Northeast Jones) beat Meredith Murphy, 6-0, 6-0, and
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) downed Kristina Taylor, 6-0, 6-1, in No. 4 singles. In No. 5 singles,
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) defeated Amber Norris, 6-0, 6-0, and
August Parker (Northeast Jones) beat Sara Talley, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 6 singles.
All three Bobcat doubles' teams won by identical 8-1 scores.
Owen and Bukhanova defeated Murphy and Hollowel in No. 1 doubles, McLaurin and Mills downed Trexler and Taylor in No. 2 doubles and Rudolph and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) beat Norris and Talley in No. 3 doubles.
The Lady Bobcats are now 1-1 and will host Copiah-Lincoln at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Northeast, 1-3, hosts Hinds on Thursday.
