BATON ROUGE, Louisiana –
Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale) hit two home runs and
Autumn Frost (East Webster) added another as No. 3 Jones County Junior College crushed Baton Rouge Community College, 17-1 in five innings here Friday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader.
The Lady Bobcats pounded out 18 hits in the victory.
Baty had two home runs, a single and five RBIs, while Frost homered, doubled and drove in four runs.
Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) and
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) each had three singles, while
Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) and
Emily Robinson (Lafayette) each doubled and singled.
Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) had two singles and
Jessie Bumpous (Southaven) had one single.
Amanda Holliday (Watson, Louisiana) was solid again in the circle. She went five innings, allowed one run, four hits, struck out four and walked none as she improved to 4-0.
JCJC led 2-0 after one inning, 3-0 after two, 6-0 after three and 10-0 after four.
Liz Davis doubled and singled for the Lady Bears. Kassi Rojas was the losing pitcher.
Jones is now 10-0 and BRCC falls to 12-19.
