WESSON – The Jones County Junior College women's tennis team defeated Copiah-Lincoln Community College, 6-3, here Wednesday afternoon.
Jones won four of the six singles' points.
Anastasiia Bukhanova (Russia) beat Laura Vargas in No. 2 singles, 4-6, 6-1, (10-3).
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) whipped Susanna Ratcliff in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) downed Bayli Battle in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-4, and
August Parker (Northeast Jones) rallied by Maddie Ogden in No. 6 singles, 3-6, 6-2, (10-5).
Gyselle Daza beat
Beth Owen in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Chantel Quarles defeated
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
McLaurin and Mills beat Battle and Ratcliffe in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
April Rudolph (Northeast Jones) and Parker defeated Ogden and Quarles in No. 3 doubles, 9-7. Daza and Vargas edged Owen and Bukhanova in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-5).
The Lady Bobcats are 5-3 on the year, while Co-Lin is 4-4.
JCJC's home match vs. Holmes scheduled for Thursday has been canceled by rain. The Bobcats will host Itawamba at 2 p.m. on Friday.
Co-Lin's match vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday has been postponed by rain. The Wolves will go to Hinds on Monday.
