Ten-run third inning lifts No. 1 JCJC past Northeast

ELLISVILLE – No. 1 Jones County Junior College sent 15 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs in the third inning and  rolled to an 11-1, five-inning victory over Northeast Mississippi in game two of a doubleheader
Jones won the opener, 9-1 in five innings here Friday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
JCJC is now 28-0 overall and 12-0 in the MACJC. The Lady Bobcats will face Mississippi Gulf Coast at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at West Harrison High School.
Northeast, 19-12 and 7-7, hosts Holmes on Tuesday.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when the Lady Bobcats broke out the bats.
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) led off with a bunt single, Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) singled to left and Autumn Frost (East Webster) drew a walk to load the bases. Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale) then ripped a two-single to left. After a sacrifice by Emily Robinson (Lafayette), Natalie Hogue (Harrison Central) doubled in two runs to make it 4-0. Taylor Murray (Parklane Academy) followed with a single. Sarah Brock (North Pike), pinchrunning for Hogue, then scored on a double steal. Brittany Hagwood (Enterprise) reached on a bunt single and Murray scored when the ball was thrown away on the same play.
Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) drew a walk and Loftin's infield single scored Hagwood. Byrd's sacrifice fly to right drove in McCrary to make it 8-0. Frost's single scored Loftin and Baty followed with another single. Robinson's single scored Jessie Bumpous (Southaven), who was a courtesy runner for Frost.
Northeast scored in the top of the fourth when Madison Davis walked, Molly Walden singled and Kristen Cartwright followed with an RBI single.
Murray ended the scoring when she led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run to left.
Madison Burge (Harrison Central) started and got the win, improving to 6-0. She pitched four innings, allowed one run, two hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Haylee Morse (Madison Central) pitched the fifth inning and gave up one hit.
Murray homered and singled twice for Jones with Loftin, Baty and Hagwood getting two singles each. Hogue doubled, while Byrd, Frost and Robinson added singles.
Rebekah Morris started and took the loss. She gave up seven runs, seven hits, walked four and struck out two. Devers pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up three runs and four hits. Boyd pitched the final inning, allowing one run, two hits one walk and one strikeout.
Tia Davis, Walden and Cartwright singled for the Tigers.
