MERIDIAN – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats dropped a 6-3 decision to Meridian Community College here Monday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.
JCJC picked up one win in doubles.
In No. 1 doubles,
Beth Owen (Stone) and
Anastasiia Bukhanova (Russia) defeated Shelby Zachry and Jordyn Hull, 8-6.
Meridian's Taylor Miller and Rachel Hill beat
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) and
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) in No. 2 doubles, 8-2. MCC's Micah Gray and Kyra Holway won No. 3 doubles over
April Rudolph (Northeast Jones) and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County), 8-4.
Owen beat Zachry in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3, and Bukhanova downed Hull in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
In No. 3 singles, Holway beat Rudolph, 6-2, 6-4. Miller defeated McLaurin in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Sollie beat Mills in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and in No. 6 singles, Gray beat
August Parker (Northeast Jones), 7-6, 6-4. In an extra match, Meridian's Katherine Mitchell beat Cran, 6-1, 6-3.
The Lady Bobcats are 2-3 on the season.
Jones travels to Holmes on Tuesday and Hinds on Thursday.
Meridian goes to East Central on Wednesday.
