BRANDON – The Jones County Junior College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Christian Brothers University here Friday afternoon at the Reservoir YMCA.
Kaylee McLaurin (Laurel Christian School) got JCJC's only win. She beat Melody Mays in No. 4 singles, 6-4, 7-5.
Beth Owen (Stone) lost a lengthy match to Tara McElroy in No. 1 singles, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 12-14.
Anastasiia Bukhanova (Russia) fell to Laura Woog in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
April Rudolph (Northeast Jones) fell to Rachel Farmer in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) lost to Megan Mattis in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and
August Parker (Northeast Jones) lost to Darby Laschober in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
McElroy and Mattis beat Owen and Bukhanova in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Woog and Farmer defeated McLaurin and Mills in No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Mays and Laschober edged Rudolph and
Brooke Cran (Wayne County) in No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
The Lady Bobcats are 2-2 and will visit Meridian on March 20.
CBU, 8-5, meets Mississippi Gulf Coast and Hinds Saturday in Jackson.
