COLUMBUS, Georgia –
Haylee Morse (Madison Central) came within one out of a no-hitter here Friday in the National Fastpitch Coaches Classic.
Morse allowed a two-out single in the fifth as top-ranked Jones County Junior College beat No. 19 CCBC-Cantonsville (Maryland).
Morse ended the game with seven strikeouts and one walk as she improved to 3-0.
Offensively,
Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale) homered, singled and drove in three runs, while
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall) had three singles and two RBIs.
Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) had two doubles and two RBIs, while
Autumn Frost (East Webster) doubled, singled and drove in three runs.
Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) had a pair of singles with
Jessie Bumpous (Southaven) and
Brittany Hagwood (Enterprise) adding singles.
Alexa Holderfield singled for the Lady Cardinals and Kimberlee Cook was the starter and loser.
JCJC led 4-0 after one inning, 5-0 after two, 7-0 after three and 11-0 after four.
