ELLISVILLE – No. 3 Jones County Junior College defeated No. 10 Illinois Central 5-3 here Friday night at Community Bank Park in the Gwen Magee Invitational.
JCJC is now 7-0 and will face Illinois Central at noon and Hinds at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament. ICC meets Southwest at 10 a.m. and Hinds plays Southwest at 2 p.m. in the other tournament games.

JCJC broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the fifth inning and went on to the victory.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when
Cori McCrary (Carroll Academy) and
Kelly Byrd (Copiah Academy) singled. McCrary would score on an error.
ICC tied it in the third when Madisyn McCoy homered to center.
The Lady Bobcats had its decisive rally with two outs in the fifth.
Simone McKinney (Harrison Central) drew a walk and McCrary singled. Byrd followed with an RBI single. Brittany Baty (Northeast Lauderdale) reached on an error, which allowed McCrary and Byrd to score.
JCJC's final run came in the sixth when
Natalie Hogue (Harrison Central) reached on an error and was replaced by courtesy runner
Kelsha Loftin (Mendenhall). Sarah Brock (North Pike) sacrificed, Callie Venable (Clinton, Louisiana) reached on an error and
Emily Robinson (Lafayette) walked to load the bases. McKinney walked to force in a run.
Amanda Holliday (Watson, Louisiana) went the distance and got the win to up her record to 3-0. She allowed one run, two hits, walked four and struck out seven.
Byrd had three singles, McCrary had two singles and Baty had one single.
Cassie Shaw went the distance and took the loss. She allowed five runs (two earned), six hits, walked two and struck out four.
McCoy homered and Shelby Terrell singled for Illinois Central.
ICC is now 2-6 on the year.
