Box Score ELLISVILLE – Top-ranked Jones County Junior College scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally for a 6-4 victory over Mineral Area College (Missouri) here Saturday afternoon in game one at Community Bank Park.
Mineral Area jumped out to a quick lead in the top of the first inning.
The Cardinals' first three batters – Trever Lewis, Devon Wilson and Chase Urhahn – each singled to load the bases. Tanner Wetrich then drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
After a walk to Kenton Crawford, Conner Forsythe drove in two more runs with a double to give MAC a 3-0 lead.
JCJC got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third.
Hudson Harris (West Jones) led off with a single to right and
Fred Franklin (West Lauderdale) reached on a fielder's choice. Franklin was balked to second.
After
Shelton Wallace (Northwest Rankin) singled,
Tanner Huddleston's (George County) groundout drove in Franklin.
The Cardinals added a run in the fourth when Andrew Hayden led off with a single, Lewis was hit by a pitch and Wilson reached on a fielder's choice. Urhahn's groundout scored courtesy runner Trent Popst.
Tristan Labove (Petal) closed the gap to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run over the leftfield wall.
JCJC would send nine batters to the plate in the decisive sixth inning.
Grant Schulz (Mereaux, Louisiana) reached on an infield single and
Luther Woullard (D'Iberville) drew a one-out walk. After a fly out for the second out, Harris delivered an RBI single to right. Franklin's infield single scored Woullard to tie the game at 4-4.
Wallace then drilled a double to left to score courtesy runner

Mason Strickland (South Jones) went the first six innings and got the win to improve to 2-0. Strickland allowed four runs, seven hits, walked two and struck out nine.
Reed Michel (Northwestern State) pitched the seventh inning, allowed no runs, one hit and struck out one as he recorded his first save of the season.
Wallace doubled and singled, while Harris and Schulz had two singles each. Labove homered with Franklin and Hiatt adding singles.
Logan Winder started for MAC. He went 3 1/3 innings, allowed one run, four hits, walked two and struck out one. He had to leave the game after being injured in a collision with the base umpire during a play in the bottom of the fourth.
Jeremy Rivera pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed a run. Kollin Stone pitched the sixth inning and was charged with the loss. He gave up four runs, four hits and walked two.
Wilson singled twice for the Cards, while Forsythe doubled. Lewis, Uhrahn, Kenton Crawford, Cullen Stockley and Hayden added singles.
JCJC is now 5-0 and MAC is 3-5.
