FULTON – The Itawamba Community College Indians led for most of the game and defeated Jones County 80-66 here Thursday night at the Davis Event Center.
ICC led 18-17 midway through the first half and was up 31-25 at halftime.
The Bobcats pulled within 38-36 with 16:50 to play, but the Indians would take a 58-46 lead with 9:30 remaining. ICC was ahead 70-53 with just over five minutes left.
David McCoy (Meridian) led the Bobcats, 2-2, with 17 points. Winceton Edwards (Oak Grove) had 14 points and Quentin Pough (Wayne County) added 11. Johnny Bingham (Jackson Provine) added 7, Mason Daniels (Atlanta, Georgia) had 6 and Malik Henry (Terry) had 5. Omar Steele (Laurel), David Gaines, Jr. (Wayne County) and Terry Williams (Oxford) added 2 each.
Ole Miss signee Brian Hallums led the Indians, 3-2, with 19 points. Tre Jenkins added 17, while Joshua Greer and Joseph Jones had 11 points each.
JCJC hosts Shelton State (Alabama) on Nov. 30 with the women's game starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
Itawamba, 3-2, will travel to Wallace Community College-Selma (Alabama) on Nov. 27.
