RAYMOND – Jones County Junior College posted an impressive 11-0 victory over Hinds here Tuesday afternoon at Tom Shepherd Field in the season opener for the Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Bobcats received four goals from
Shannon Durkin (Barnsley, England), three goals each from
Ashleigh Lewis (London, England) and
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) and one goal from
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones).
Stubbington had three assists, while
Rylee Sullivan (Florence) had two. Smith, Lewis,
Sydney Brocksmith (New Hope),
Rachel Martin (Oak Grove) and
Rachel McConnell (Portadown, Ireland) had one assist each.
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) played the first half in goal and had three saves, while
Mia Holmes (Brandon) played the second half in goal.
The Lady Bobcats led 6-0 at halftime.
JCJC, 1-0, will open MACJC South Division play at home at 5 p.m. on Friday vs. Southwest.
Hinds, 0-1, hosts Northwest on Saturday.
