Holliday's shutout leads Lady Bobcats past LSU-Eunice

CLINTON – Amanda Holliday pitched a complete-game shutout to lead Jones County to a 9-0 victory over LSU-Eunice here Saturday afternoon in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament at Traceway Park.
With the win, the Lady Bobcats forced another game vs. the Bengals for the championship.
Holliday, 15-4, gave up only four hits, walked one and struck out four.
Kalyn Watts led off the game with a home run over the leftfield fence that went off the scoreboard.
JCJC took a 3-0 lead in the second inning.
Natalie Hogue singled and Autumn Frost reached on an error. Ashley Valentine sacrificed the runners and Jay Harris followed with a two-run double.
The Lady Bobcats made it 5-0 in the third.
Cori McCrary and Kelly Byrd singled to start the inning and Brittany Baty was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hogue's sacrifice fly scored McCrary and Frost's sacrifice fly brought in Byrd.
JCJC ended the game's scoring in the fourth.
Brittany Hagwood led off with a single and Harris and Watts both reached on bunt singles to load the bases. McCrary's sacrifice fly scored Hagwood.
With two outs, Brittany Baty smashed her 20th home run of the season over the centerfield fence – a three-run shot to make it 9-0.
Watts homered, doubled and singled, while Harris doubled and singled. Baty homered with McCrary, Kelly Byrd, Hogue and Hagwood adding singles.
Abigail Leonards started and took the loss for LSU-Eunice. She went 2 1/3 innings, allowed five runs (three earned) and five hits. Savannah Cates went the final 3 2/3 innings, allowed four earned runs, five hits, walked none and struck out one.
Rebecca Skains, Alli Daigle, Jeannemarie Angelle and Jaci Lavigne singled for the Bengals.
JCJC improved to 50-7 with the win, while LSU-Eunice fell to 57-8.
