SENATOBIA –
Amanda Holliday pitched a complete-game four-hitter as No. 8 Jones County defeated Northwest 4-1 in game two to complete a sweep here Sunday afternoon.
Jones took game one, 11-3 in five innings.
The Lady Bobcats are now 33-6 overall and lead the MACJC at 22-2. Northwest falls to 16-16 overall and 10-14 in conference play.
Holliday allowed only four hits in going the distance and
Brittany Baty hit her second home run of the day as JCJC completed the sweep.
Holliday, 12-4, went seven innings, gave up one earned run, walked one and struck out four.
The Lady Bobcats scored twice in the first inning.
Kalyn Watts led off with a bunt single and was sacrificed by
Cori McCrary.
Kelly Byrd's single to left scored Watts. Byrd went to second on Baty's groundout and scored on a single by
Natalie Hogue.
Northwest made it 2-1 in the fourth before JCJC got some insurance in the seventh.
McCrary was hit by a pitch, Byrd reached on a fielder's choice and Baty hit a two-run home run to right.
Baty now has 15 home runs, which puts her sixth in NJCAA Division II.
Watts doubled and singled and Hogue singled twice for Jones. Baty homered, while Byrd,
Autumn Frost and
Brittany Hagwood added singles.
Tori Luke went the distance for Northwest and took the loss. She allowed four earned runs, eight hits, walked one and struck out three.
Kailey Walker, Heath Griffith, Avery McCullough and Annah Storey singled for the Lady Rangers.
JCJC travels to Hinds for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on April 13 and ends regular season play with a 2 p.m. home doubleheader on April 16 vs. Coahoma. Those games will air on

The Lady Bobcats will host a best two-of-three opening round playoff series on April 22-23. The opponent and game times are still to be determined.
Northwest goes to East Mississippi on April 13 and ends regular season play on April 16 at Meridian.
