Brittany Baty drove in six runs as No. 8 Jones County defeated Northwest 11-3 in five innings here Sunday afternoon.
Baty's grand slam home run in the first inning set the tone for JCJC.
Kalyn Watts led off with a walk,
Cori McCrary reached on an error and
Kelly Byrd walked to load the bases. Baty then crushed a pitch out of the park to centerfield.
Northwest got two runs in the bottom of the first before JCJC rallied for five runs in the second.
Ashley Valentine led off with a single and was replaced by courtesy runner
Brittany Hagwood.
Jay Harris singled and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Watts then reached on a fielder's choice, which scored Hagwood. McCrary then singled and Byrd reached on a fielder's choice.
Baty followed with a two-run single to make it 7-2.
Natalie Hogue then singled and both Byrd and Baty ended up scoring on an error.
The Lady Rangers got a run in the bottom of the second to make it 9-3. It stayed that way until the fifth when JCJC scored twice to end it.

Rachel Hayes and Valentine reached on errors. A single by Harris would score Hayes and courtesy runner

Baty homered, singled and had six RBIS, while Harris singled twice and drove in two runs. Hogue had two singles, while McCrary and Valentine added singles.
Hayes, 17-1, got the win. She went five innings, allowed three runs (one earned), four hits, walked one and struck out six. Hayes now has 149 strikeouts on the year. She is tied for fifth in the nation in wins and strikeouts.
Ashton Needham started and took the loss. She did not retire a batter in the first inning, giving up four runs (three earned), one hit and two walks. Leeah Henson pitched five innings and allowed seven runs (five earned) and seven hits.
Sallie Carver doubled for Northwest, while Allison Williams, Kailey Walker and Avery McCullough added singles.
