SUMMIT – The 7
th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats are on a hot streak.
JCJC defeated Southwest 6-0 in game two of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats have now won 11 straight games. Jones is 16-3 overall and leads the MACJC with a 6-0 mark.
Amanda Holliday gave Jones another complete game in the circle and the Lady Bobcats used a balanced offense to complete the sweep.
Kalyn Watts doubled to start the game for Jones and
Cori McCrary followed with a bunt single.
Kelly Byrd drew a walk and Watts scored on a passed ball.
Autumn Frost drove in McCrary with a sacrifice to make it 2-0.
Jones made it 4-0 in the second inning.
Tylesha Davis and
Jay Harris walked and Watts singled to score Davis. After McCrary singled, Byrd reached on a fielder's choice, which scored Harris.
The Lady Bobcats ended the scoring in the fifth.
Frost reached on an error and was sacrificed to second by
Natalie Hogue. Holliday then singled and Davis followed with a single to score Frost and courtesy runner
Brittany Hagwood.
Holliday, 6-1, went seven innings, allowed no runs, scattered eight hits, walked none and struck out four.
Watts doubled and singled, while McCrary, Hogue and Holliday had two singles. Byrd had a double and Davis added a single.
Jessie Penton doubled and singled for Southwest, while McKenzie Brock had two singles. Austin Pruitt, Jenna Duff, Kelcey Bremenkamp and Jeney Hudson added singles.
Macy Fulton went the distance and took the loss. She allowed six runs (four earned), 10 hits, walked three and struck out three.
?The Lady Bobcats are scheduled to host Lansing College (Michigan) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on March 9 and are scheduled to travel to Northwest for a noon doubleheader on March 11. They will host Meridian in a 1 p.m. on March 13.
Southwest, 8-12 overall and 1-5 in the league, goes to Mississippi Delta on March 11.
