SUMMIT –
Brittany Baty hit her seventh home run of the season and drove in four runs and
Rachel Hayes won her ninth game as No. 7 Jones County beat Southwest 9-1 in six innings here Tuesday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader.
Baty is now tied for third nationally in home runs and Hayes is tied for fourth in wins.
The Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Kalyn Watts reached on an error and
Cori McCrary reached on a fielder's choice. After
Kelly Byrd walked to load the bases, Baty walked to force in a run. With two outs,
Natalie Hogue came through with a two-run single.
Jones went up 5-0 in the third.
Byrd singled and

Southwest got on the board in the fifth when Austin Pruitt singled, Jenna Duff reached on an error and Kayla Sanchez singled Pruitt home
In the top of the fourth, Watts singled and McCrary singled. With two outs, Baty crushed a three-run home run over the leftfield fence to make it 8-1.
The Lady Bobcats closed the scoring in the sixth when Watts reached on an error, McCrary singled and Byrd's fielder's choice scored Watts.
Hayes, 9-1, went six innings, allowed one run (unearned), six hits, walked none and struck out five.
Hogue singled twice and drove in three runs, while Baty homered and had four RBIs. McCrary had two singles, while Valentine doubled. Watts, Byrd and
Amanda Holliday added singles.
Sanchez doubled and singled twice for Southwest. Pruitt, Jeney Hudson and Jordan Fitzgerald added singles.
Rebecca Davis went the distance and took the loss for the Lady Bears. She gave up nine runs (five earned), nine hits, walked three and struck out two.
