ELLISVILLE – The 20
th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats are still unbeaten.
The Lady Bobcats defeated No. 16 Meridian Community College 6-3 here Tuesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
JCJC is now 8-0, while Meridian falls to 13-2.
JCJC swept the doubles' points and split the singles' matches.
In No. 1 doubles, Rachel Rodriguez and
Madison Currie rallied past Paige Gibson and Shelby Zachry, 9-7.
Claire Rounsaville and
Breanna Waller defeated Jordyn Hull and Alden Hartley in No. 2 doubles, 8-5. In No. 3 doubles,
April Rudolph and
Mattie Mills whipped Jamie Daugherty and Taylor Miller, 8-2.
Rodriguez defeated Gibson in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Currie came back to beat Zachry in No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7. In No. 3 singles, Rounsaville beat Kyra Holloway, 6-3, 1-2 (retired).
MCC's Hayden Hill outlasted Rudolph in No. 4 singles, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Hull downed Mills in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Miller defeated Waller in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
In an extra match, JCJC's
C.J. King beat Brittany Allen, 8-2.
The Bobcats will head to Holmes on March 29. JCJC travels to Northeast on April 1 and Itawamba on April 2.
Meridian goes to Millsaps on Thursday and to Copiah-Lincoln on March 29.
