Holliday tosses shutout as No. 5 JCJC completes sweep of Co-Lin

ELLISVILLE – Amanda Holliday keyed No. 5 Jones County to a 9-0 victory over Copiah-Lincoln here Wednesday evening at Community Bank Park.
Holliday tossed a four-hit shutout and drove in three runs to lead the Lady Bobcats to the win in game two. JCJC took the opener, 6-1.
Holliday allowed only four hits, walked two and struck out two as she improved to 8-2.
Natalie Hogue put Jones up for good with her third home run of the year, a solo shot in the second inning.
The Lady Bobcats made it 4-0 in the third.
Kalyn Watts led off with a double and Cori McCrary was hit by a pitch. Watts went to third on a passed ball and scored on Kelly Byrd's fly ball to right. McCrary went to second on a passed ball and scored on Hogue's single to center.
Jay Harris entered as a courtesy runner for Hogue, stole second and scored on Holliday's single to right.
JCJC put the game away with a five-run, fourth inning.
Brittany Hagwood and Watts started the inning with singles and Byrd drew a one-out walk to load the bases. Brittany Baty followed with a two-run double to left-center to make it 6-0. Holliday then singled to score Byrd and pinch-runner Shelby Nelson. Autumn Frost's double scored courtesy runner Jessie Bumpous for the game's final run.
Frost singled twice and doubled, while Holliday singled twice and drove in three runs for JCJC. Hogue homered and singled and had two RBIs, while Watts doubled and singled. Baty doubled and drove in two runs, while Hagwood added a single.
Lauren Brashier, Kaitlyn Taylor, Trevlyn Scott and Mattie Avants singled for Co-Lin.
Kamry Creel was the starter and loser. She pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowed four earned runs, six hits and struck out one. Taylor pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowed five earned runs, five hits and walked one.
JCJC is now 21-4 overall and leads the MACJC with a 10-0 record. Co-Lin falls to 16-6 and 7-3.
The Lady Bobcats will travel to Booneville to face Northeast in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Their next home games will be at 4 p.m. on March 22 vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast in a "Military Appreciation Day" doubleheader.
Co-Lin visits Northwest on Saturday.
