ELLISVILLE – 
Rachel Hayes struck out 15 as No. 4 Jones County beat Meridian Community College 7-1 here Monday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
Hayes gave up just four hits as she improved to 10-1.
Jones took a 1-0 lead in the second when 
Natalie Hogue reached on an error and 
Ashley Valentine was hit by a pitch. After 
Autumn Frost sacrificed, Hayes came through with a sacrifice fly to score Hogue.
In the third, 
Kalyn Watts led off with an infield single, was sacrificed by 
Cori McCrary and scored on 
Kelly Byrd's single.
JCJC went up 4-0 in the fifth. McCrary led off with a bunt single, Byrd walked and 
Brittany Baty drove in a run with a single. 
Jay Harris, who was pinch-running for Baty, later scored on an error.
The Lady Bobcats took a 7-0 lead in the sixth.
Hayes led off with a walk and was replaced by courtesy runner 
Haylee Morse. After 
Brittany Hagwood's sacrifice, Watts followed with a two-run home run. Byrd reached on an error, Baty walked and Byrd scored when Hogue reached on an error.
The Lady Eagles scored in the seventh when Anna Lewis doubled, Shelby Blackwell walked and Josie Anderson reached on an error. Lloyd reached on another error, which allowed Lewis to score.
Byrd singled twice and Watts homered for Jones. McCrary, Baty and Frost added singles.
Chelsea Thornton went the distance and was charged with the loss. She allowed seven runs (three earned), six hits, walked threw and struck out two.
Lewis doubled for the Lady Eagles and Mia Johnson, Mycahla Howard and Anderson singled.
