ELLISVILLE –
Tylesha Davis circled the bases on a bloop, two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning as No. 4 Jones County rallied to beat Meridian 6-5 in game two of a doubleheader.
With the game tied at 5-5, the bases empty and two outs, Davis lofted a pop fly just over first base and into shallow rightfield. The ball got away from MCC rightfielder Anna Lloyd and Davis took off for second.
She then advanced to third and Lloyd's throw was high and into foul territory down the leftfield line. Davis then raced towards home plate, the throw was off line, she was safe and the Lady Bobcats had secured the wild victory.
The Lady Bobcats are now 19-4 overall and lead the MACJC with an 8-0 record. Meridian falls to 7-15 and 4-4.
The Lady Bobcats will host Copiah-Lincoln in a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday at Community Bank Park and they travel to Northeast for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
Meridian will be at home vs. Northeast on Wednesday.
Jones had to rally to complete the sweep.
Meridian scored three runs in the top of the first.
Anna Lloyd led off with a bunt single, Brianna Duquette reached on an error and both runs scored when Mia Johnson reached on an error. Johnson scored on Kelee Ladnier's sacrifice bunt.
JCJC got on the board in the fourth when
Kelly Byrd reached on a two-base error and scored on
Brittany Baty's double.
MCC took a 4-1 lead in the fifth when Kandler Flora walked and Lloyd singled. Flora stole third and scored on Duquette's sacrifice bunt.
Kalyn Watts hit a two-out, solo home run in the fifth to make it 4-2. It was Watts' 10
th roundtripper of the season, which puts her second in NJCAA Division II.
The Lady Eagles went ahead 5-2 in the sixth when Ladnier led off with a single, went to second on a ground out and scored when Shelby Blackwell reached on an error.
The Lady Bobcats tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Davis and
Jay Harris drew walks and
Haylee Morse entered to run for Davis. Both runners advanced on a passed ball and Watts came through with a single. Morse scored, but Harris was thrown out at home plate.
Neither team scored in the seventh.
MCC would hit a couple of deep fly balls to center in the top of the eight, but Watts would make both catches to end the threat.
That set up the dramatic finish in the bottom of the eighth.
Watts homered and singled, while Baty doubled twice and singled for Jones. Cory McCrary had two singles and Byrd, Holliday, Frost and Davis added singles.
Holliday pitched all eight innings and got the win. Holliday, 7-2, allowed five runs (one earned), six hits, walked two and struck out seven.
Lloyd had three singles for Meridian, while Johnson, Ladnier and Blackwell added singles.
Payton Fox pitched the first 5 2/3 innings for MCC, giving up four runs (two earned), eight hits and two walks. Chelsea Thornton pitched two innings and took the loss, allowing one run (unearned) and three hits.
