No. 7 Lady Bobcats pound out 13 hits in 12-0 rout of Bears

ELLISVILLE – Seventh-rated Jones County Junior College pounded out 13 hits and whipped Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) 12-0 in five innings in game two of a doubleheader here Sunday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
Amanda Holliday, 3-1, went the first four innings in the circle and got the win. She allowed no runs, three hits, walked two and struck out three. Haylee Morse pitched the final inning, allowed no runs and struck out two.
JCJC took a 2-0 lead in the first when Kalyn Watts singled and Cori McCrary reached on an error. Watts scored on the front end of a double steal. Brittany Baty then reached on an error, which allowed McCrary to score.
The Lady Bobcats made it 4-0 in the second. Tylesha Davis led off with a home run and Brittany Hagwood and Watts followed with singles. Kelly Byrd's single scored Hagwood.
JCJC put the game away with a seven-run third inning.
Ashley Valentine led off with a single and was replaced by courtesy runner Jay Harris. Harris stole second and scored on Autumn Frost's single. Davis then singled and Holliday's double scored Frost to make it 6-0. Davis would score on a passed ball and Watts singled to drive in Holliday.
McCrary then singled and Byrd reached on an error. Baty's single scored Watts and McCrary and Byrd later scored on a passed ball.
JCJC's final run came in the fourth when Davis singled and later scored when Watts reached on an error.
Davis homered and singled twice, while Watts singled three times for JCJC. Holliday had a double with Baty getting a single and three RBIs. McCrary, Byrd, Valentine, Frost and Hagwood each singled.
Taylor Toledano singled twice and Megan Smith had one single for BRCC.
Alyssa Bush started and took the loss. She went two innings, allowed seven runs (five earned) and eight hits. Kassie Rojas pitched two innings and gave up five runs (two earned), five hits and struck out two.
JCJC is now 10-3 and will open MACJC play with a 3 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at No. 2 East Central.
BRCC, 9-16, hosts Faulkner State (Alabama) on Tuesday.
